Christian Hochfeld has been director of Agora Verkehrswende since February 2016. Prior to that, he managed the Sustainable Transport Program in China at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). From 2004 to 2010 he was a member of the management board of the Öko-Institut, and from 1996 to 2004 he was a research associate at the same institute. Hochfeld holds a degree in engineering and studied technical environmental protection at the Technical University of Berlin. Since 2015, he has been a member of the International Advisory Board of the Chinese Electromobility Platform (China EV100).
Agora Verkehrswende is a think tank for climate-neutral mobility based in Berlin. In dialogue with politics, business, science and civil society, the non-partisan and non-profit organization works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector to zero. To this end, the team develops scientifically based analyses, strategies and proposed solutions. Agora Verkehrswende was initiated in early 2016 by Stiftung Mercator and the European Climate Foundation. The two foundations are shareholders.
